Lead: If you are looking at a building or a structure that was built before 1979, there is a possibility it could have lead paint. Asbestos: The U.S. has not totally quit mining or quit using asbestos in building materials or other products. This is why all states require asbestos testing on any building prior to demolition. Bedbugs: Bed bugs are an epidemic in Utah and Salt Lake Counties. Lodging buildings may have them and you may not even know it. The bites only show if you are allergic. Termites: All structures should have an annual termite inspection. Structures are more at risk of termites when in close proximity of foliage. Electric: If the structure was built between 1950 and 1990 and is equipped with a Federal Pacific Electric (FPE) or Zinsco circuit-breaker panels with Stab-Lok circuit breakers, you run a significant risk of breaker malfunction and fire. |
